Maria Flowers is from Hazleton, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. Maria has studied saxophone with David Stambler and Carrie Koffman and has played in a variety of ensembles including saxophone ensemble, saxophone quartets, and the Penn State concert bands. She has been fortunate to perform in masterclass settings with input from Taimur Sullivan, Kevin J. Stewart, Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, Jeremy Koch, and Joe Lullof. While in attendance at Penn State, Maria participated in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as THON, NAfME, Jazz Educators Club, Penn State Saxophone Alliance, and served as a member and student leader of the Penn State Blue Band. She is now the current band director at Jacksonville Commons Middle School. She is new to the North Carolina coast and is very much loving the warm weather and sunshine!
