Max Mascia

(brass~beginning band)

Max grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University with a BS and M ED in music education. While at Penn State, Max was first chair trombone in the famed Penn State Blue Band.  After graduation, he taught instrumental music for 32 years at the elementary, junior high and high school levels.  After teaching for two years in Pennsylvannia, Max moved to Long Island, New York where he was a band director for the next 31 years until retirement. He was President of the Hampton Music Educator's Association and was a member of both the Pennsylvannia and New York State Music Educator’s Associations.

His bands were invited to march in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade during his twenty years of high school band directing in Westhampton Beach, NY.  During this time, Max performed in professional concert bands, jazz bands, and brass ensembles as well as pit orchestras for high school musicals and other special music events on Long Island.

Following retirement, Max moved to New Bern where he continues private music instruction at Fuller's Music.  Max's specialty is trombone instruction but he is highly qualified and enjoys teaching all wind instruments.  Max continues to perform locally with the Craven Brass Quintet and the Craven Community Concert Band.
